Is there a function in Jira to copy a project in order to setup a new one based on a prior project?  I know the template function isn't available for projects, but if we can copy a prior project as the basis for a new project with all the same Issues, but just setup new dates and titles, that would be fantastic!  Thanks for any input.

Hi @Pat Flanakin,

I am Marlene, product manager of Deep Clone for Jira.

With our app you can clone or copy project templates very easily. Cloning a project template is very easy with Deep Clone for Jira, as you can see in the linked video.

You can read more about working with Jira project templates in our documentation.

Hello @Pat Flanakin

If you're willing to use a third-party application, I can suggest trying our app Elements Copy & Sync that allows you to copy issues with all their content (summary, description, custom fields, comments, attachments, etc.) and their child issues.

You’ll be able to quickly copy everything from your template project to your new project.

Don't hesitate to try our app, it's free during 30 days and stays free under 10 users.

Kind regards,

Clara

Hello @Pat Flanakin

we might have built the solution for you as Marketplace app 'Project Templates for Jira'.

You can clone projects including issues and all other stuff. But you can also setup custom project templates and specify some predefined issues that will be created with each new project. On those issues or predefined components you can set the due date and other date fields dynamically. For example have the due date of an issue always 10 days after project creation.

Give it a try, the 30 day free trial is without feature limitations, so you can test everything properly.

Hi,

You can use the shared configuration option when creating a new projet. The new project will have the same configuration.

If you want to have the same issue also, you could export them as CSV and import them in the new project or look at the marketplace if there is a plugin that allow copy of project with issue.
