How can I get a checklist percentage or #/## display as a column in a view for a filter?

Ruffio May 2, 2024

In my project, the desire to have a view on a rich filter, displaying several tickets, where one of the columns on that view is the number of checked items vs the number of unchecked items. Either a percentage view or a numeric view would work (percentage preferred). For example, if a rich filter had say, 15 tickets, and each ticket has a checklist with varying numbers of checklist items, I want one of the columns to give me a bird's eye view of the percentage of done we are with the whole list of items, so the column would show a percentage or just like 12/55 checklist items are checked.

I can't seem to find a way to accomplish this. As an additional data point, I know nothing about writing code, and may not even have access to do so. I do think this is likely doable just through views, or something similar in the Rich Filter wizardry, and I've just missed it. Haha

Hi @Ruffio

I need to tell you that Checklists are not a core Jira feature. If you see them in your Jira, it most likely means that you have some checklist app installed.

Please let us know which app it is - the answer to your question heavily depends on this.

Cheers!

@Wojciech Wardaszko _HeroCoders_ - Looks like it's HEROCODERS based on what happens when I click the documentation link in the context menu by checklists. This is where it takes me: https://docs.herocoders.com/checklist/

Hi @Ruffio

Then you're almost set up! You'll need to have the Jira admin enable the option to Save local Checklist items to Jira custom fields in our app's Global settings, wait for a couple of hours to have all your issues updated with data from our servers, and then you can use the custom field called Checklist Progress for x/y format or Checklist Progress % for percentage display. Here's the relevant documentation.

You can add the field to your filter by just adding the custom field as one of the columns.

You can also add the field on cards to the board view by editing the card layout in the board settings.

I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to us directly via our service portal.

Cheers!

Hi @Ruffio

welcome to the community!

I think you'd really like the app that my team and I working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also integrates with a range of other 3rd-party apps, including the great Issue Checklist app from our good friends @ HeroCoders @Wojciech Wardaszko _HeroCoders_.  This is how it looks in action:

As you can see above, you can easily sort and filter by the Issue Checklist columns, and also use them across JXL's advanced features, such as support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes
